Lolita is a street fashion subculture that began in Japan back in the 1980s, typified by frilly, crinoline-shaped dresses and a doll-like image.
In its early days, it was a vintage fashion trend in the Harajuku area of Tokyo, but like many fads, it died out (though it did inspire later styles like mori girl and dolly kei).
